Digestion+ Powder for Dogs and Cats

INTRODUCTION

Herbs have been used throughout history to help resolve digestive problems such as diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, travel sickness and colitis. Often combined together for a synergistic effect, their combined properties can help allay many problems quickly without the need for drugs and without side effects. Since most herbal remedies are taken by mouth and enter the digestive system directly, their action is not only local, but also direct and immediate, bringing a rapid resolution to some of the most common digestive problems to affect both dogs and cats.

HERBS IN DENES Digestion+ Powder

Our Digestion+ Powder contain a blend of 6 important herbs in combination with Kaolin.

  • Marshmallow root (Althea officinalis)

As a demulcent herb with a high mucilage content, marshmallow helps soothe mucus membranes. This not only protects inflamed or damaged areas, but also allows healing to take place. Marshmallow can help with many digestive problems including gastritis, vomiting, diarrhoea and colitis.

  • Peppermint (Mentha piperita)

Peppermint is a herb with carminative properties known to ease flatulence, bloating and colic. Peppermint will also stimulate the digestion by promoting the flow of bile and digestive juices. The essential oil in peppermint soothes the stomach lining, helping with ulcers, vomiting and nausea. Peppermint is an ideal remedy to help prevent travel sickness.

  • Agrimony (Agrimonia eupatoria)

Agrimony is a good general herbal remedy to use in solving problems associated with the digestive system. It works as an astringent, both drying and toning the tissues and helping to firm the stools where there is diarrhoea. Agrimony can help particularly with colitis, (especially where there is mucous or blood) and with diarrhoea. It can also help with indigestion. As a bitter tonic Agrimony will help stimulate the appetite and promote the flow of bile from the liver.

  • Ginger (Zingiber officinali)

Ginger acts on the stomach promoting the flow of gastric juices and assisting the digestion. It also eases problems resulting from excess acid, flatulence (wind) and tummy pain (colic). One of its main effects is in helping relieve sickness (nausea) both from travelling and from tummy bugs.

  • Liquorice Root Powder (Glycyrrhiza glabra)

A versatile herb with soothing, anti-spasmodic and anti-inflammatory properties. Good for helping with colitis, IBD, diarrhoea, vomiting (gastritis) and stomach ulceration as well as where there is colic-like pain.

  • Slippery Elm Powder (Ulmus fulva)

Another herb with excellent soothing properties, lining and protecting the surface of the digestive tract, allowing it to heal. Helps with gastritis and ulcers whilst its astringent qualities will provide additional support for patients with diarrhoea and colitis.
